Report for 2007 The Peacemaking Committee meets monthly on the 4th Monday at 7:30 here at the church. The Peacemaking focus of the Presbyterian Church USA is varied and includes: race relations, global and local environmental concerns, encouraging peaceful solutions to the many areas of the world where injustice and human rights violations are rampant, encouraging religious tolerance and ecumenical understanding. Each year for the past several years we have sponsored two Irish teens, one Protestant and one Catholic, to come to Newtown and stay with one of our church families. This has been a wonderful and rewarding experience for the youth and the host families. Over the past several years we have co-hosted United Nations Sunday events which focus on issues of local interest in Bucks County. We have also hosted summer hymn sings on the Old Church lawn along with the local African American churches. In addition, we participated in a Christian/Judean program with Shir Ami Synagogue, exploring our common roots and practices. The Peacemaking offering is conducted each October, through which we continue to support a Christian school in Rammalah, Palestine and an orphanage in Iraq. Our meetings are open and all are welcome to join in our group for discussion.
