Newtown Presbyterian Church

Mission Statement

The Newtown Presbyterian Church is an imperfect and human community redeemed from sin and death. This community reaches out to each member, to others, and to the world with the gift of God's redemption in Jesus Christ.
We are a community of faith witnessing to the God revealed in Jesus the Christ through the Bible and interpreted by the Holy Spirit. We seek to be faithful to God's mission, to the will of God, and to the leading of God's Holy Spirit.
We are a people of God, seeking to grow both inwardly and outwardly. Inwardly, we want to develop faith and understanding so that the spiritual gifts of each member may contribute to the development of the ministry of the Body of Christ. Outwardly, we want to be faithful to the great commission of Jesus to "go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
We are a family of God mutually supporting one another in the development of a community of faith in Jesus the Christ which seeks to be in ministry to the changing community of the local church, to the changing area around us, and to the changing world
As Presbyterians we affirm our connectional system and seek to be faithful to the great ends of the church, to our brothers and sisters in Christ, to the mission of the church universal, and to the will and purpose of God.
We seek to communicate this mission and purpose to all and to build a network of support, incorporation, and study which will bear witness to the good news of the Gospel in our local community, in our nation, and in the world. As a community of peacemakers, we seek to bear witness to the power of God to the end that all the earth shall share in the peace we have with God and each other through our Lord Jesus.
